Kenny Tay, originally born Kyndall Taylor, is a Chicago based creative who excels in both comedic and dramatic writing and performance. Currently enrolled in The Theatre School at DePaul University’s BFA Comedy Arts Program, she is constantly generating new comedic content. Having a background in writing, performing, and directing Kenny Tay is currently working on her own All Black sketch comedy show entitled Blessed and Highly Favored.
From a young age, KT noticed there were not many actors who looked like her on the big screens- and if they were they were portrayed in a negative fashion. As a result of this she generates original comedy that highlights the black experience in America while also using her work to promote social change. She uses her background of living in a predominantly Black community that has been systemically oppressed in Saint Louis, Missouri while attending a well funded predominantly white high school as a basis to fuel her art. Seeing the disparages between her neighbors and her classmates, Kenny makes it her mission to speak truth to power.
Kenny Tay excels in identity comedy and satirical comedy. She has written, performed, and been on the executive team of many all Black productions. She has had the privilege to perform all over the Chicago area including theaters like DePaul University in RM 408, IO Theatre, Lincoln Lodge Bughouse Theatre, and the Annoyance Theatre.
